About
Alexander Beaujon was born in Texas USA to immigrant parents who returned to his father’s Caribbean homeland of Aruba when he was 5 years old, and where he then spent his entire childhood. Living in Aruba means adapting to a melting pot of cultures, so mixed and inconsistent that he always felt like an outsider. In 2015 Alexander moved to the Netherlands to pursue an education in the arts. He now makes video art, sculpture and props for his video work. Identity has always been a loaded subject, he brings forward in his art without putting himself in the spotlight:
“I want to guide the viewer into feeling and wondering what I experience without making the situation about myself. Autobiographical work that includes the viewer as a friend, whom I welcome in to to accept my story as their story. Feel free to lose your own identity and slip this one on for a little while.”
